Attention deficit disorder an opportunity instead of a problem

According to the book "Different Brains, Different Learners" and the interesting presentation ellaborated and presented by Marcela Ramos and Seidy Ugalde in the University UNED Turrialba on April 28th, I believe that when we, teachers, have students with this specific behavioral disorder, have found an opportunity to make a change  and to help students in order  to avoid discrimination and isolation. But do you know exactly what symptoms can you see in a child with this situation? Well, pay attention to the following symptoms :
  1. Rarely finishes his work
  2. Calls out answers in class; never waits his turn.
  3. Easily and consistently distracted.
  4. Exhibits weak follow-through and preparation for future events.
  5. Wants everything right away; no patience.
  6. Personal areas (desk) are a mess.
  7. Doesn´t seem able to reflect on the past to learn from it.
  8. Doesn´t sit still; always on the go.
  9. Can´t hold several thoughts at a time.
  10. Hindsight of foresight rarely evident.
I know that any curricular accommodation demands from us a lot of investigation, work and time, but also to be at the right place and moment to be a hero for a kid. Someone who understands this kid's world. A teacher who looks for new techniques and strategies instead of crying every day for having this kind of pupils.
